  • Used  clothes
  • Paint

  • A pair of scissors

Instructions For In The Market Cloth Store Activity

  • Take out a clean piece of an old cloth. (We used a couple of fabric bags.)
  • Using a sketch pen, draw the outlines of the clothes such as shirt, a pair of trousers, a skirt, etc.
  • Encourage your child to colour the clothes in any manner — finger-paint, finger-print, use small items to make patterns, etc.
  • Once dry, cut the pretend clothes out. Pin up them up on a string using clothespins.

Ta-da, the pretend cloth store is now ready!

Engage your preschooler in a fun pretend play where the play the role of the vendor and you are the buyer.  Encourage them fix the price for each pretend attire.

As your child finger-prints and finger-paints on the pretend clothes, they are exposed to a unique tactile experience. Pretend play tickles their creativity and imagination, apart from improving their communication.
