Where did the chick come from? From the egg! Make this easy craft and surprise your preschooler. All your little one has to do is rip the paper apart! Don’t they already enjoy doing that? Materials
- Coloured paper
- A4 sheet
- A pair of scissors
- Sketch pen
- Glue
Instructions for Little Farmer Hatch An Egg Activity
- Fold the yellow paper in half. Sketch and cut out the outline of a chick.
- Stick the cut out on another coloured paper.
- Cut out the beaks and legs from another coloured paper. Stick them on the chick.
- Draw an oval big enough to cover the chick on the A4 sheet. Cut it out. The oval represents the egg.
- Apply glue at the edge of the egg and stick over the chick.
- Make a small slit in the middle of the egg to help your child tear the paper.
You are all set!
Give the craft to your preschooler. Engage them in a conversation about what they think is hidden inside the egg. Ask them to crack the egg — tear it!
Have a discussion about the chick, hen, and egg — how does it look, what sound a chick makes, etc.
This activity is a great way to exercise your preschooler’s fine motor muscles. As they pull the paper apart, there’s also an added element of surprise!
