When you mix two colours, do you get a new colour? You sure do. Well, here is a fun experiment your child and you can try out — create a new colour without mixing two different colours together! - Transparent bowl
- Transparent glass
- Ink filler
- Paint

Instructions For Magical Science Colour Play Activity
- Fill half of the transparent bowl with water. Add some yellow paint and mix it well.
- Fill half of the transparent glass with water. Add some blue paint and mix it well.
- Place the transparent glass into the transparent bowl. Make sure there is ample light in the room. What do you? Does the colour in the lower half of the tumbler change?
- Lift the transparent glass, what do you observe. The colours are same as earlier — yellow and blue in the bowl and glass respectively.
Try the experiment with different colours and see what happens.
Science behind it
When we mix any two colours, we get the third colour, don’t we? In the same manner, when the transparent glass is placed inside the transparent bowl, light from the blue colour merges with the light from the yellow colour which then appears to be green to us.
