Activity For Children: Nature Decor

Here’s a fun way to decorate your house using different natural elements. Go on a nature walk with your child and collect a handful of twigs. Bring them home and take a quick look at the nature decor activity below and make a few of your own.

Materials

  1. Twigs
  2. Yarn
  3. A pair of scissors

Instructions For the Nature Decor Activity

  • Join two ends of a twig together and wrap it with yarn. (Refer to video)
  • Similarly, bind the twigs together to make a star. (Refer to video)
  • In the end, cut out a long piece of yarn and tie it to the star decor to hang it in a place of your choice.

Your nature decor is ready!

Encourage your child to make a few other decor pieces using the same technique. You may also make different shapes and hang them to make a banner.

In this sensorial activity, your child is exposed to different materials such as twigs and yarn. Their fine motor skills are enhanced as they work with yarn.
