Flintobox VS Other Activity Boxes – How To Make The Right Choice

Are you looking for the perfect activity box to engage your child?

Are you searching for high-quality learning tools that will fit his/her developmental stage and age?

Wondering if Flintobox is the right choice for your child?

This article may help!

Flintobox is the market leader in the field of early education and a pioneer in the subscription business model in India.

It started in the year 2013 by 3 young fathers — Arun, Vijay and Shreenidhi. Vijay had raised this concern that his 5-year old son Aadhav, was spending a disproportionate amount of time on TV & mobile phones.

Knowing that the early years of his son’s life is the most important phase, where 90% of brain development occurs, he wanted his son to engage in activities that could aid with his growth. As with any busy parent, Vijay was pressed for the time to ensure his child was engaged in meaningful activities.

This is when they thought it would be a great service/product to design and curate new activities and ideas which would engage kids positively, at home, away from the TV, and does not need the parent’s constant supervision.

Today, Flintobox has revolutionised the early learning space and has created a remarkable difference in the lives of children across India.

Over the past 6 and a half years, Flintobox has impacted more than 10 lakh budding inventors, artists, scientists and makers!

Flintoclass@HOME vs Flintobox:

While Flintobox is an extra-curricular activity box for kids focusing on unstructured play, Flintoclass@HOME is a complete early learning program that delivers preschool education to your doorstep. It focuses on all aspects of a child’s learning years including academics, life skills, and much more. Flintoclass is designed to replace preschools by making your child school-ready from the safety and comfort of your home during the COVID pandemic.

1) The Only Company With A Dedicated R&D Centre

Flintobox is the only Indian early childhood development company that has an intensive research and development centre called ‘Flinto Early Learning Research Foundation’, housing hundreds of child psychologists, pedagogy experts, curriculum experts, game designers, material engineers, product developers, etc.

This team works extensively towards exploring next-gen learning practices and incorporating them into our learning tools.

Effectively, every activity, puzzle, board game, experiment, storybook or worksheet that comes from Flintobox is developed after hours of research for maximised learning and engagement.

You can read more about the research centre here or watch the video below:

2) The Right Number Of Activities For Maximised Child Engagement

What’s the right number of activities per month for a child? 1? 3? 6? 10?

The child psychologists, researchers, curriculum developers and pedagogy experts at Flinto R&D Centre, have worked with thousands of children and understood that 3 to 4 activities per month, with high re-play value and varying degrees of complexity, will impart and reinforce effective learning, and at the same time, not overwhelm them with too many stimuli.

The learning circuit is complete where children learn the concept by revisiting it multiple times while also making the neural connections (synapses) stronger.

That’s why Flintobox is designed as a comprehensive learning program that exposes your child to a variety of activities, using different types of materials with age-appropriate complexity to deliver sustained fun and learning over a period of time.

3) Unparalleled Safety

When it comes to the activities and learning materials, Flintobox follows international standards of safety and hygiene. All the materials adhere to European Safety Standards; they are tested by experts, are of high-quality and are child-friendly!

Flintobox has a research team that designs products that are drop-safe, and non-toxic.

Here’s an example — Most paints and clay available in the market is for children above 3 years and may contain chemicals. So how do you give a finger painting activity to a 2 year old child?

Flinto has researched and designed its own safe and edible replacements for paints and clay to ensure that the safety of children is not compromised. These are largely used in our activity boxes today >>

4) Universal Design

Even today, left-handed children face so many challenges as most activities are designed for right-handed children.

Flintobox does not label children. It follows the principles of universal design in the learning methodologies.

For example: While designing an activity called cogs art, where the child has to rotate a gear to set in motion the activity, a provision was added to attach the driver gear on both the left and right side of the baseboard, making it easy for a left-handed child and a right-handed child to use it the way that suits them.

5) It’s Gender-Neutral

In 2013, Flintobox launched with gender-neutral toys, a completely new concept in the gaming industry. In fact, it took the western world one and a half years to follow suit.

By negating pink and blue toys, Flinto ensures equal opportunities for both girls and boys to experience maximised learning through play and fosters their innate interests. In fact, this empowers children to pursue professions independent of their gender!

6) Intensive Testing

Through every stage of production, Flintobox conducts multi-level testing to evaluate the effectiveness of the products. Every product is tested carefully and thoroughly.

For instance, while designing a glass colouring experience for 6-8 year olds in the form of a macaw painting activity — non-breakable transparent plastic was given to ensure that it is alright for the child to drop the macaw down while playing and balancing it.

Flintobox ensured that the final product is drop-safe by literally breaking the initial few pieces in the exact way the child might do so.

In fact, over 1000 hours of testing go behind the development of a single activity box. And it’s not just approved by experts, but also by hundreds of kids 🙂 Don’t believe us? Check the video below:

Apart from the fact that Flintobox has been appreciated by parents, it has been awarded the ‘Academics’ Choice Brain Toy USA’, ‘Global Education Award’, ‘Best Education Startup, Tiecon’ and more!

There are several toy-based companies across the globe that work towards a similar outcome.

In the field of arts & craft and single-usage activities, there’s Imagimake and Toykraft.

There are also subscription activity boxes for kids such as KiwiCo, Magic Crate, Intellikit, Einstein Box and Xplorabox.

In terms of digital engagement and ed-tech, there are companies such as Osmo, 123learning, STEMI and more.

However, with Flinto’s ‘Child-First’ policy and intensive next-gen research, it is not just the most trusted brand by parents but also the undisputed leader in the early learning space. For more information on the different themes, activities and age groups we cater to, click here >>
